EmuMovies is a project started back in 2005 to create game previews of video games to replace static screenshots on an arcade cabinet that I was building.  Since then the collection has grown to over 10,000 video game previews.  The goal for EmuMovies is to eventually create preview videos for all emulated video games.  It is a lofty goal and I am not sure if that will ever fully happen, in the meantime you will find many high quality complete preview sets for almost all emulated game systems. 

The main use for the previews is to use them with an Emulation Front-End to give you a better sense of the game experience while browsing through a game list.  With high quality video and audio instead of a static snapshot, it really makes the whole experience much more engaging and entertaining.  Many front ends also allow you to utilize game clips as a screensaver (attract-mode).  After a predetermined time of inactivity the Front End begins to randomly play video clips of your games that are available on your machine. 

That it why as often as possible I include the title sequence at the end of each video clip.  Consider it a commercial of sorts.  Speaking of commercials, one of the available sets includes over 700 classic video game commercials and related video clips.  These also work great mixed in with your game previews in the screensaver.  Even though these sets were originally intended for use with arcade cabinets and other gaming front-ends.  Many users have reported that it is just a very good way to review many games in a short amount of time.  Many just enjoy the nostalgia of being able to passively experience many different games from a wide variety of systems.

The Collections

The EmuMovies preview sets are available in the following three ways:

- Direct Download - All content is available via direct download in the collections pages.  The only exception are the Video Snaps because of the size. 

- Torrents - All of the Video Snaps are available via torrent files.  The upside of torrents is that the are a great and free way of obtaining the collections.  The downside to torrents is that it is very difficult to keep a torrent functioning over time.  As it is dependant on multiple users seeding the file for others for an extended period of time.  Also with the collection soon to exceed 40GB total and the near term expectation is that it will soon exceed 60+ GB, many find it too large, time consuming, or even costly to download.  View the Torrent "how-to" in the guides section.  NOTE: Torrents often include older versions of the video sets and are sometimes not as stable or complete as what can be found on the FTP.

- DVD - After many requests I started to offer the EmuMovies Collection on DVD.  This has been a very popular alternative to the torrents.  The upside of the DVD Collection is that you receive the most current and complete versions of the sets all at once.  The DVDs are now professionally printed and have a very commercial look to them.  The other benefit of ordering the DVDs is that you also get access to the EmuMovies FTP.  Through the ftp you will be able to download set updates, wip videos, as well as complete sets.

- FTP - (Premium Access) If you have purchased the EmuMovies Collection on DVD you receive lifetime access to EmuMovies private FTP server.  Access is also given as a thank you to EmuMovies supporters who have made a donation to the project.  The FTP server contains complete sets, wip sets, updates (i.e.: MAME), and more.

Expanded Content & Focus

Recently I have expanded the focus of EmuMovies to include not only Video Snaps but to offer all additional artwork packs for use in most of the emulation Front-Ends out there.  The goal is to have all types of artwork i.e. Videos, Snaps, Titles, Boxes, Carts & Overlays all with the latest verified naming conventions and as complete as possible available to all.  Also the news section has been expanded to not only cover EmuMovies Releases, but also Hardware and Software News for Home Arcade and Emulation Gaming. 

So whether you are after MAME Videos, or Cart & Box Scans from your favorite classic console system or handheld, even if you just need that manual from your favorite childhood game, or you just want it all!!!
